Creative Relationship Center communicates with patients via Telehalth
No one ever thought long-distance clinician-to-patient contact would become the new healthcare norm. Creative Relationship Center Founder Wendy Pegan, LMHC is one of the many providers now offering services remotely—and it’s working out for both sides.
“I prefer telehealth and so do my clients,” said Pegan when discussing the transition. “They don’t have to get in their car and drive. It makes the whole process much less daunting, especially for couples in divorce mediation.”
Telehealth is the distribution of healthcare or health-related services and information by means of digital communication devices, such as computers and cell phones. The overall usage of telehealth by licensed doctors and therapists has risen due to the spread of COVID-19, and has proven to have more benefits than simply keeping people at home. This remote way of communicating can improve patient outcomes as well as reduce healthcare costs.
According to Pegan, the perks of telehealth existed long before this pandemic.
“It’s a platform I had been wanting to go to for a while because I see couples who come from such distances. I have clients all the way out on the west coast that would benefit greatly from telehealth.”
The amount of people seeking help is at an all-time high thanks to remote access. While a majority of each day may be monopolized for clinicians, Pegan says it's important to also look out for your own mental health and enjoy some downtime every now and then.
“You need to make sure to give yourself some of that slow-down time and not run from one thing to another. My whole world has changed. I have kids home, we have puppies we’re training to become therapy dogs. You need to be able to find balance. The more time you make for yourself, the better you can be for everyone else.”
